Wide angle lens in 8" Ikelite dome port
I recently acquired a 10.5mm wide angle lens for my Nikon D200 which requires the 5510.10 port body to be fitted to the Ikelite 8" dome port. I had read in a couple of reviews that this Ikelite setup is not an ideal set-up as the dome port can spin on the port flange and release itself accidentally. Last week I took the new housing with the 8" dome port fitted to the 5510.10 body for a dip without the camera in the housing to test it for leaks .. no leaks everything was okay, but I came to realise just how fragile this set-up is. The dome port can easily spin without much effort and potentially release itself off the housing. Has anybody come up with a suitable solution to keep the 5510.10 port body locked to the housing ... so it can't inadvertently 'turn off'? Your suggestions would be much appreciated. regards, John.

Hi John,
I use the 8"dome myself with 2 different port bodies. You have to screw the body on as far as it goes. I haven't had the feeling that it would accidentily turn off. As it is I find it difficult to get it off again after the dive. If yours turns that easily, you might consider reporting it to Ikelite. What I find more scary is those two little locks to secure that massive port on the housing!
