commercial diving
hey ppl, im planning on doing my commercial 1,2,& 3 and would appreciate any comments on the different training centres, at the moment im looking at either decend UTC or freemantle

Hi David, i was just cruising around and saw your post and thought i might be able to add some insight for you. I have been a commercial diver for a while and have worked with graduates from both schools, and worked many contracts for Descend. Both schools offer a great course, however, in my opinion Descend has the edge for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they are not only a school but are working contractors and derive most f their income from this. This means that they are not just teaching it, they are activly out there doing it. They also offer nitrox, OH&S induction cards (now required on most sites) and upgraded sports qualifacation included in the course. The best advice i could give you, is not to take my, or anyone elses advice, but if you are able to call in on both schools, talk to the staff and have a tour of the facilities, this will help you decide. - It all started on flying in early on Friday the 22nd (a day before the rest of the crew, which were coming from the US). I received the most wonderful welcome and had a great time scoping out my new home for the next week and a half before having a great nights rest in my DOUBLE KING sized bed, meaning that it was about 4m wide (never knew they made beds that large!). I awoke to the sound of "Yeeeehaw" echoing through the place and knew at once that the Texans and the rest of the gang had arrived.
