Nikonos v. Sea & Sea

I've been investigating my options with regards to underwater cameras after being somewhat disappointed with my Canon A85 with underwater housing - the time lapse between when you push the button and when the photograph actually gets taken often means that fish are either half in the picture or not at all. The two cameras that I am debating between are the Nikonos V and the Sea & Sea MotorMarine II. Both are compatible with a multitude of strobe set-ups as well as accessories for different types of photos. I am looking for something basic, serviceable and quality. Photography is only a hobby for me so expense is also an issue. Does anyone have any advice?

Hello Charlie, I am also a 'novice' UW photographer, but I have a NikonosV, and a Nikonos SB105 UWflash. My kit includes 20mm wide angle lense & optical viewfinder, as well as 35mm lense & macro kits. The real issue about film or digital seems to me to revolve more around what do you ultimately want to do with your pictures? Happy snaps are cheaper and more plentiful with a digital, but if you want a picture published, then a top-end ( greater dpi/ more megapixels) camera is the go. I have just purchased a digital camera and still ironing out the "bugs". The tray from Nikonos does not suit and the flash from the Nikon is not compatible with a digital.

The only bad dive is the one YOU MISSED; take something from every dive,an image to remember it by.
