The Stinger Season & Great Keppel Island

I'm kicking myself hard.

I'm a British diver whose LP guide book said that box and other nasty jellyfish started north of GKI. So I booked a trip at the end of November assuming swimming, snorkelling etc would be worry-free on that score. Wrong, I learn, with all the certitude of 20/20 hindsight. And to think that before that my main concern was whether the local dive shops did Nitrox fills!

So what is the low-down on this? Are there stinger-netted beaches where my partner and I can swim and snorkel?
How about the situation at local dive sites? How prevelant are these nasties (including irakandji) on the Capricorn coast?

Thanks in advance for any help & advice on this...

Hi,

I'm a UK diver heading out to Oz in February. I just wanted to know what advice you got about diving during the stinger season.

HMI technology is not new. It evolved in the late 1960s when lamp developer Osram began producing HMI bulbs for the film industry at the request of German television seeking a less expensive alternative to incandescent lights. Ironically, HMI is now much more expensive than halogen and tungsten.
