Wooli

The coastal village of Wooli is on a penninsula with the Wooli River on one side and the Solitary Islands Marine Park on the other. It is surrounded on land by the Yuraygir National Park and is hidden amongst these natural islands. There are no farms or industries near the Wooli River. It flows through Yuraygir National Park and is renowned for the purity and clarity of its water. The locally grown Sydney rock oyster are a delight and can be purchased from Wooli seafood outlets.

Underwater Recommendations

From Wooli both Pimpernel Rock and North Solitary Island can be dived.

North Solitary island offers several very different dives sites such as Anemone Bay and Fish Soup. One better than the other and all teeming with life.

Pimpernel Rock consists of three connected pinnacles and a tunnel runs through one of them.

The depth of this dive site reaches 40 meters. The diving conditions have to be "spot-on" to be safe. This is an absolutely worthwhile spot with fantastic colourful, sessile marine life. The fish life is a mesmerizing combination of pelagics and reef fish.

Below 28 meters this rocky reef is coloured by amazing deep sea sponge gardens. Beautiful!

Getting There

Wooli is 35 km from the Pacific Highway, approximately 1 hour North of Coffs Harbour. There is a regional aiport at Coffs Harbour.
