Murdoch University Divers Club
Murdoch University Divers Club (MUD) is a non-profit club catering to
students, staff and associates of Murdoch University. The membership
generally hovers about 100 people. MUD is actively involved in
recreation, research projects, and environmentally friendly activities
such as “Clean up Australia”. Past trips have been organised to
Rowley Shoals, Ningaloo Reef, Abrolhos Islands, Dunsborough and
Albany. Local trips include diving Perth’s coastal and offshore reefs
and Islands, especially Rottnest. Night dives are conducted in the
Swan River where it is common to get a catch of large king prawns.
The club has been in existence since 1979, and in 2002 became
affiliated with The Underwater Explorers Club of Western Australia
(UEC). The UEC conducts boat dives most weekends, giving MUD members
the opportunity to join in individually or as a group. Either way, UEC
will take care of you and make sure you enjoy your day out.
