The endless stretch of sandy white beaches gently being lapped up by the sea, the untouched underwater realm of colourful marine life, the beautiful virgin tropical rainforests; these are among the sights that you find on the paradise islands of Malaysia.

In the days before digital it was just too expensive for amateurs to take endless shots hoping for that one 'perfect' photo. On this particular occasion I remember shooting off half a roll. I don't think I'd ever done that before, but looking back now I guess it was worth it.

This scorpionfish was getting a bit excited as I tried to get close for a good shot. It shows the colourful wings quite nicely.
These colourful worms can be seen everywhere on the coral around Perhentian island in Malaysia.
Nudibranches are among my favorite subjects for macro photography, they don't move (at least not much) and are very colourful.
This big ray just stays under the same coral all the time, so I just had to wait for a day with decent visibility to take a picture of it.
