Phillip Island Accommodation: Just 26 kilometres long and 9 kilometres wide, Phillip Island is a short stretch of land just over an hour south-east of Melbourne. Geraldton Hotels: Land was first surveyed and sub-divided in 1961 and the townsite was gazetted in 1961 as Snag Island, a name that is still in common use. Geraldton is close enough to find accommodation nearby.

Denham Accommodation: Denham survives as the gateway for the tourists who come to see the dolphins at Monkey Mia, which is located 23 km north-east of the town. The town also has an attractive beach and a jetty popular with those interested in fishing and boating.

Exmouth Hotels: Coral Bay is a small town on the coast of Western Australia, 1,200 km north of Perth. It exists primarily for tourism, with a side industry of fishing. The electricity for the town is provided by a wind-diesel hybrid system. Exmouth is just around the corner.

Exmouth Accommodation: Exmouth is one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the "Range to Reef" experience. The Cape Range National Park which has some spectacular gorges is an area of 506 square kilometres and its main area is focused on the west coast of the Cape which provides a large variety of camp sites on the coastal fringe of the Park.

Pilbara / Karratha Accommodation: Karratha in the local Aboriginal language means 'good country' or 'soft earth'. The town is the seat of government of the Shire of Roebourne.

St Helens Accommodation: St Helens is a fishing port sheltered by Georges Bay and St Helens Point, a long headland, of which is reserved as a public conservation area.

Ulladulla Accommodation: One of the most picturesque spots in the Shoalhaven, Ulladulla boat harbour, with its distinctive rocky breakwater, is the natural hub of this delightful seaside township.

Wynyard Accommodation: The city is on the banks of the Inglis River sheltered by Table Cape - flat-topped and fertile and during spring it is carpeted in tulips.

Whyalla Accommodation: With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, fascinating history and plenty to see and do Whyalla is the ideal holiday destination.

Warrnambool Accommodation: Warrnambool is nestled into the rising contour of Victoria's south-west coast amid green dairying country and overlooking the deep blue of the Southern Ocean.

Rottnest Island Accommodation: Diving is a very popular activity at Rottnest. Its varied limestone reef terrain, and plentiful fish make it a very interesting diving destination. In particular, diving for "Crays" or crayfish Western rock lobster, is popular among the locals in the summer months.

Night dive at the Rock: by Gerard; The sunset over the bay was a real treat to watch through the boat as we waited for water to lift her. We would soon be on our way past the perfectly peeling lines of swell and out to the rocks.

Grey Nurse Shark rescued from fishing gaff in Byron Bay: by Simon; I joined Sue and big Mark (from the Byron Bay Dive Centre) and (to avoid missing anyone) the Seaworld crew, Marine Parks and Fisheries aboard the Seaworld boat this morning for a rescue attempt. My job was videographer for the underwater part of the operation. All of the shark wrangling was done by Seaworld staff.

Bombs, Turtle Soup and the World's Largest Sanctuary: by DaisyB; The history of our vast continents mountains, deserts, adventurers and fighters is well known but that of our watery periphery is often overlooked. Australia’s Coral Sea has a fascinating story and if the government continues with its current plans it will become one of the largest safe havens for marine life on the planet.
